Non-Local Consciousness Experiences, (NLCEs) encompass a much broader range of exceptional human experiences and capacities, which collectively demonstrate that consciousness is unbounded by space, time or form, i.e., the brain or the physical body. Therefore, in addition to and supplemented by STEs, this area of inquiry also provides an enormous body of evidence to conclude that consciousness in non-material, incorporeal and eternal.
NLCEs include such phenomena as telepathy, clairvoyance, precognition, levitation, miracle healings, the power of prayer, mediumship, channeling, interspecies communication and much more. NLCEs collectively reveal many evidential indicators that human beings are more than their physical bodies; that the five senses are not the only means of perceiving reality or obtaining information; that the future can sometimes be predicted with incredible accuracy; and that mind or intention can direct and influence matter, as demonstrated in the field of torsion physics.
What is the brain? What is the mind? What is consciousness? Are mind and consciousness merely the bi-product of physical brain processes, or are they something that transcends brain functioning? Does any aspect of consciousness extend beyond the brain and can it survive death of the physical body? John Audette’s recent book, Loved by the Light, offers a probing discussion on the subject of consciousness, one that even goes so far as to propose a working definition of the term. It also provides an in-depth discussion about torsion physics, explaining the major importance of this field of inquiry to achievement of Eternea’s mission and vision.
However consciousness is defined, there is a considerable and growing body of evidence suggesting that some core aspect of consciousness transcends the natural boundary of the physical body and normal sensory mechanisms. The term "Non-Local Consciousness” infers that consciousness is incorporeal, ubiquitous and entangled throughout the cosmos at the quantum level.
For example, physicists have shown that an electron at one end of the cosmos can instantly link or communicate with another electron at the other end of the cosmos through a process known as “quantum entanglement.” So too can one human consciousness instantly link, connect, interface or communicate with another human consciousness on opposite sides of the world through telepathy. This suggests that consciousness is not confined to one’s immediate environment or locality.
Since the 17th century, science has been based on a reductionist view of reality and materialistic thinking. This has fueled consumption, competition, conflict and dualism, giving rise to an “every man for himself” attitude coupled with “get while the getting is good” behavior, stemming from the false conclusion that physical death is the end of existence. However, by the end of the 20th century, new scientific evidence has emerged from several new fields of study such as quantum mechanics, non-linear thermodynamics, systems and chaos theory and the study of supernatural phenomena that render the reductionist and materialist view of reality not only untenable, but incorrect as well.
Thus, a new paradigm is surfacing which:
Throughout the ages, great spiritual teachers from all traditions have described consciousness as limitless, transcendent and holistic. But partly as a result of the legacy of the French philosopher Descartes and the separation of religious and scientific thought, the spiritual view of reality has been largely dismissed by modern science. Yet, spiritual teachers have taught us for millennia that we all have the ability to experience transcendent states of awareness and to access the power of intentionality. These states are just now beginning to be understood as fundamental properties of consciousness.
Enlightened individuals blessed with advanced consciousness have been called by many names including avatars, mystics, sages, saints, gurus and shamans. By whatever name they have been called, all held a similar world view that advocated oneness, unconditional love, living harmoniously with nature and other human beings, as well as recognizing the interconnectedness and interdependence of creation.
The hypothesis of interconnectedness, proposed by ancient sages from many pre-scientific cultures, has never been rigorously explored or tested by modern mainstream science. To create the fundamental shift in consciousness necessary to advance civilization, experimental and theoretical investigations are needed to fully understand and test these unifying approaches to nature. The goal of this research must be to fully critique the reductionist and purely materialistic view, characterized by classical Newtonian science, in sharp contrast to the holistic spiritual view now emerging from frontier science, which encompasses consciousness and transcendent states of awareness.
Exceptional Healing Abilities
It is often said that to prove white crows exist, all that is necessary is to find one white crow. When it comes to exceptional abilities in humans, one only has to study those few individuals who have demonstrated exceptional mental or consciousness capabilities. Although these individuals sometimes have mental deficiencies in one or more areas, they often excel in other areas.
Is this the result of the brain compensating for the deficiencies or is it the result of some other aspect of ordinary consciousness relinquishing control or certain aspects of mind/brain functioning to allow other aspects to flourish? Or, finally, is it the result of tapping into non-local mind (e.g. an aspect of consciousness that may exist beyond ordinary space and time)? Furthermore, if these capabilities are real (as they have been demonstrated throughout the literature), is it possible for ordinary people to train their minds to achieve these same abilities?
Here are some examples of exceptional mental abilities which may demonstrate the phenomenon of non-local consciousness:
Spontaneous Healing
Spontaneous remission or spontaneous regression are both synonyms for spontaneous healing. Regardless of the term used, the definition is the unexpected improvement or complete cure of disease without normal (e.g. mainstream) medical intervention. It may also happen by unorthodox or other unconventional means such as prayer, energy medicine or remote healing.
This type of healing is not given much credibility by the mainstream medical establishment. Many doctors don't believe in the phenomenon. They were never exposed to it in medical school and consequently try to discourage patients from holding onto what they consider to be false hope or believing in false cures. The standard answer the medical establishment gives to spontaneous healings is that there must have been a misdiagnosis or, if any treatment was given, even if known to be ineffective, they attribute this treatment to be the cause of the cure.
However, evidence continues to mount that spontaneous remissions do often occur from a wide range of “incurable,” “chronic,” or “terminal” illnesses, including stage four cancers, HIV, cardiovascular illnesses and common metabolic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, obesity and certain autoimmune diseases.
Some studies that suggest spontaneous healing happens much more often than mainstream literature suggests. A common ingredient in many spontaneous healings is a shared belief on the part of the patient, and another person such as a healer, a clergy member, or, in some cases, a trusted physician, that the patient can be cured. The beliefs of the patient in the ability of these trusted “authority figures” may be much more important than their actual healing abilities.
The so-called placebo response is a perfect example of spontaneous healing because of the belief system carried by the patient in their ability to heal themselves. So is the nocebo effect such as voodoo spells or curses, which have the opposite outcome on body health. No one knows for sure what is responsible for remission or regression from the placebo response, (or from the nocebo response), but clearly the mind/body connection (beliefs directly affecting the physical body) is involved.
It is generally believed that spontaneous healings occur in one of the following ways:
One famous case of the mind/body connection is illustrated by the experience of Norman Cousins who had a rare disease of the connective tissue and was given a 1 in 500 chance of survival. He did three things to cure himself: (1) He fired his doctor, stopped his treatment, left the hospital and went to a hotel; (2) He found that the medicines given in the hospital were depleting his store of vitamin C so he took massive doses of the vitamin from a doctor who was sympathetic; and (3) He got a movie projector and watched many comedic TV shows (Marx Brothers and Candid Camera). He watched them for several days while locked in his hotel room. Even though he was in pain, he laughed at the videos the entire time. The end result was that he died 26 years later, many years after his doctors had predicted.
One rational for his remarkable recovery is that, as science has shown, every thought is associated with the release of many hormones in the brain and throughout the body. An unhealthy thought releases unhealthy hormones (e.g. the stress response). Positive thoughts release hormones stimulate healing or strengthen its immune system which, in-turn can cure. In other words, psychology affects physiology. It also works in the opposite direction.
Is it possible that focused awareness (e.g. rapt attention) on an engrossing activity actually distracts the conscious mind such that the immunological (or extraordinary) processes of the body can be mobilized by the subconscious mind to promote healing? Does this mean that the ordinary consciousness we experience is nothing but a reducing valve that protects our consciousness from experiencing a larger and more powerful reality even at the expense of our own health?
