History, Governance & Management

Eternea was founded in 2012 by John R. Audette, MS, who currently serves as President & Chief Executive Officer. Harvard neurosurgeon Eben Alexander, MD, was named co-founder and also served as its inaugural Chairman and Chief Science Officer. He is best-selling author of “Proof of Heaven”, “The Map of Heaven,” and “Living in a Mindful Universe.” 

Eternea’s current chairman is Raymond Moody, MD, PhD, prominent best-selling author of “Life After Life” and several other popular books. Vice-Chairman is Dr. Robert C. Anderson, (Lt. Col. USAF retired).

Immediate past chairman is Dr. Ervin Laszlo, founder of the ‘Club of Budapest’ and the Laszlo Institute of New Paradigm Research. Dr. Laszlo holds a doctorate from the Sorbonne University in Paris. He is the best-selling author of 90 books and is a well-known systems theorist, humanitarian and futurist. Previous Chairmen also include the late Dr. Edgar Mitchell (Apollo 14 astronaut and sixth man to walk on the moon) and Dr. Gary Schwartz, a university professor and author of “The Sacred Promise” among other works. 

Eternea has been only minimally operational due to lack of adequate funding since its inception. It has no paid staff or employees and does not maintain an office. Rather, its activities have been necessarily limited to publishing a quarterly digital bulletin distributed free to all subscribers, hosting occasional podcasts and operating a speakers’ bureau, made possible by the support of dedicated volunteers. It also implemented the “Distressed Animals Assistance Project” under the “Love In Action Program” as one sponsored initiative of the Outreach Program Component.

Eternea, Inc. is a 501.c.3 publicly supported non-profit charity incorporated in the State of Florida, USA. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law as set forth in the U. S. Internal Revenue Service Tax Code. Eternea’s Federal Employer ID is 65-0547499. 

Eternea’s Vision

The vision and overarching raison d’etre of Eternea is to help facilitate a profound evolutionary transformation in human nature and civilization, shifting from avarice to altruism, conflict to harmony, duality to unity, enabling humanity to evolve from the “every man for himself” worldview to an “all for one and one for all” worldview for the macro purpose of engendering an optimal future for Earth and all its inhabitants through effectuating a convergence between science, spirituality and religion.

Eternea’s Mission

To promote scientific research, public education, personal growth programs, institutional transformation strategies, new technology development, practical global outreach initiatives and other endeavors to enhance knowledge and understanding about the seismic significance of spiritually transformative experiences (STEs) and non-local consciousness experiences (NLCEs), pursuant to the fulfillment of Eternea’s vision to help facilitate a magnificent future for earth and all its inhabitants.

Organizational Impetus

Eternea was created as a humble offering to humanity for its collective consideration. It is proposed as a means to help quicken the advancement of civilization and the realization of a magnificent future - the best and brightest one can possibly imagine. In this context, Eternea is a determined attempt to answer Einstein’s famous appeal to humanity at the dawn of the nuclear age to embrace "a new manner of thinking”, one which assures the survival of Earth and all species of life thereupon, equally. 

Einstein believed this new manner of thinking should be consistent with and deeply rooted in scientific knowledge, including his own breakthrough discoveries. He reasoned that aligning our opinions, values, behavior and perceptions with the findings of science could stimulate a major shift in the way we view ourselves, our planet, the entire cosmos and the whole of reality. Einstein felt this might help humanity evolve into a more advanced level of civilization to assure its survival, the welfare of planet and the realization of the best possible future for all things. 

Toward the end of his life, Einstein called for mankind to rethink life’s meaning and purpose and the nature of existence, as well as our relationship to all other living things. As a man way ahead of his time, and as one of the most enlightened human beings who ever lived, Einstein came to discover the interconnectedness of all things throughout the cosmos toward the end of his career. He urged his fellow human beings to evolve into the same understanding so that human consciousness could keep pace with the exponential technological progress he witnessed during his career and foresaw in the future well beyond the span of his own lifetime.

“A human being is part of the whole called the universe. We experience ourselves as something separate from the rest…a kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison restricting us to our personal desires and affection for persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature. The true value of a human being is determined by the measure in which they have obtained liberation from the self. We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive.”

Eternea’s main purpose is to provide humankind with a sound empirical basis to accept the validity of the Seven Statements, which are cornerstone observations about the nature of absolute objective reality. We believe the Seven Statements represent the new manner of thinking Einstein was advocating toward the end of his life. They offer a philosophical framework for his unfinished unified field theory - a theory of everything - which integrates general relativity and quantum mechanics. Scientific research in the exciting field of Torsion Physics may ultimately reveal the connection between consciousness and matter, establishing consciousness as the interface, bridge or missing link that enjoins general relativity with quantum processes.

Social scientists largely agree that behavior typically follows perceptions and belief. If true, and there is ample evidence to believe it is, then popular acceptance of the Seven Statements, underpinned by a solid scientific foundation, could and should engender profound change in human nature and the nature of social, educational, political and economic systems, as well as religion. 

This reasoning is referred to as The Eternea Strategy, which is best described as a comprehensive, holistic, multi-faceted plan to facilitate the spiritual awakening and evolution of humanity through a new understanding of consciousness supported by sound scientific findings. We believe this will engender a gradual shift towards ‘higher civilization,’ as well as an optimal future for Earth and all its inhabitants.

In simple terms, The Eternea Strategy is a blueprint for achieving a magnificent future which empowers and upholds the greater good of our precious planet, our cosmos and all creation. It is a highly progressive evidence-based formulation of life’s meaning and purpose – one which provides a scientifically sound basis for individuals to evolve into an expanded understanding of who we are and why we are here. It is based on empirically derived knowledge that compels individuals to grow into an accurate perception of the larger greater reality, post-materialism, not based on faith or dogma, but rather on scientific facts.

Living in accordance with The Seven Statements has a number of significant benefits. Most importantly the Statements have the potential to dramatically change human nature and behavior, as well as the overall complexion of life on earth. Through a global process of reinforcing their validity with credible scientific research and promoting their popular acceptance through educational campaigns and personal growth programs, the spiritual evolution of humanity and the advancement of civilization could be dramatically enhanced for the greater good of all. This, in essence, is the Eternea Strategy. 

Thus, Eternea’s core offering to humanity is credible scientifically-derived information, knowledge and wisdom that evidences that humans are eternal beings not confined by space, time, the physical body or matter, blessed with free will to perpetually love, learn and grow (in and out of physical form) in the eternal now and the infinite here. 

To this end, Eternea aspires to offer programs, services, tools and strategies to aid and quicken the transformation of individuals and social systems/institutions (including all religion) in a manner consistent with the credible scientifically-derived information, knowledge and wisdom it disseminates.  In undertaking these efforts, Eternea aims to fulfill its greatest, highest and pivotal role as a creative catalyst for the realization of an optimized future for Earth and all its inhabitants, while endeavoring to help design that future. 

In essence, Eternea is both a purveyor and propagator of happiness through self-liberation, that is to say liberation from flawed thinking, illusory perceptions and false beliefs. It seeks to be recognized as a center of excellence in terms of offering tools, resources, strategies and leadership to fuel A Happiness Revolution, spawned by a new Period of Enlightenment, stimulated by a new Spiritual Renaissance or Reformation, all predicated on evidence provided by Frontier Science in its study of STEs and NLCEs.
 

Eternea aims to provide the critical impetus for a chain reaction of enlightenment that in turn has the potential to bring a profound sense of fulfilment and well-being across the globe based on the supposition that true happiness that can only be derived from gaining a new sense of perspective of what it means to be human in a consciousness-centered interconnected non-dualistic world.  

This is not an ‘idealist’ view. It is based on long-known principles that have sadly fallen by the wayside during centuries of ego-centered materialistic views. This profound self-liberation will be facilitated by Eternea’s efforts to offer individuals the tools needed to achieve personal spiritual epiphanies based on scientifically derived knowledge, intended to help them transcend limited thinking and false perceptions of reality, e.g., ego, the physical body, dualism, nihilism and materialism generally.  
 

What would be the end result of liberation in this context? Eternea believes that the end result of such liberation would be unsurpassed happiness, joy and bliss based on the scientifically-derived knowledge from the formal study of non-local consciousness and spiritually transformative experiences.  

Eternea is therefore a vehicle for liberation from our collective anxieties, fears, ignorance, myopia, limitations and false perceptions of reality. It has the potential to be one of the core solutions for nearly all of the challenges and problems that plague our species and our planet. 

In this sense, Eternea represents a pathway and a plan that has the very real potential of bringing about the end of war, hunger, poverty, despair, inequality, animal abuse, violence, illiteracy, intolerance, bigotry, religious conflict, environmental degradation, decimation of our oceans and forests and to usher in a new happy and more peaceful world based on love, respect and cooperation. 

There is no charitable cause that would not realize great benefit from Eternea’s success, as all would be direct beneficiaries in equal measure of any success it is able to achieve on behalf of all humanity.
